Funktion Fitness is a hybrid fitness and training facility focused on community and strength together, located in Old Saybrook, Connecticut.
Project Goals
Funktion Fitness sought out Julia Balfour, LLC to overhaul their one-page website to more accurately reflect the fitness house’s brand ethos and offerings. We were able to sum up the client’s goals and deliver a cutting-edge website that placed an emphasis on the strength of the Funktion community, the gym’s state-of-the-art class and training offerings, and a customized Mindbody experience.
Stronger Together
Design
Working with Funktion’s existing logo and blue, we expanded upon the brand to really emphasize the athleticism of their community while still being approachable. We paired their bright, almost royal, blue with pure black to create a powerhouse feel, while pulling in a neon lime green to hammer home the “sport” vibe — think Seattle Seahawks meets a tennis ball. Strong, bold lines and custom drawn arrows to match our san-serif typeface round out the strong branding.

Mindbody API Customization
As the most popular fitness booking software on the market, Funktion Fitness operates on the Mindbody platform to sign clients up for memberships and classes. The creative and development teams took great care in fully customizing the Mindbody API to reflect Funktion’s new branding, rather than using the software straight out of the box.
