We’re all atwitter for our social media crush! If you don’t LOVE Twitter like us, here’s a few reasons why you should embrace it. For those of you who Tweet daily and have hundreds of thousands of followers, to those that signed up for an account 3 years ago and never Tweet because you still don’t “get” hashtags (it’s ok, they really aren’t that scary, we promise), and anywhere in between, you will appreciate this.
1. Twitter is an AMAZING listening tool. If you run the Twitter account for a brand, LISTEN to your customers! Talk to them, too, because they want to talk to you (we’re all just humans trying to connect to each other, after all). FOLLOW all of the big boys (and girls) in your industry, and hear what they have to say. You’ll always be in the know about the next big thing.
2. Those big boys and girls that we talked about, are easily accessible on Twitter. Where else can you talk directly to company CEOs, or your favorite bands and brands? TALK TO THEM! Ask about their ideas on new trends. If you have a question for a chef on recipe substitutes, ASK! If you want to tell an idol how much you admire them, go for it! Look at you being proactive and forward.
3. Get HIRED! Twitter can absolutely be professional. Our most recent recruit came to us through Twitter. He tweeted some awesome logos that got our attention, and we reached out. Don’t be afraid to send love letters to your DREAM job to get them to notice you.
Got it? Now get Tweeting! @juliabalfour
This weekend, our fearless leader gave a presentation at the CADC Student Conference at UCONN. We thought we should share her wisdom with you here.
We couldn’t be prouder to tell you all that Backus Hospital’s Cancer Kiosk for the Boutique at Backus WON a GDUSA American Package Design Award! We absolutely LOVE this piece: it helps people in their hour of need by providing support and resources, while looking stunning and sleek. We are SO glad to hear that GDUSA loves it too!
The team at Julia Balfour, LLC are continually INSPIRED by the healthcare industry and their unwavering commitment to helping people. As such, we are honored to help THEM help their COMMUNITY. Here are some examples of how we have done just that.
Established in 1893, The William W. Backus Hospital health system includes a not-for-profit, 213-bed hospital in Norwich and numerous off-site locations. We completely redesigned their website to make it uncluttered and easy to navigate. Their old site was very content rich, but users were overwhelmed and confused by how to find the right content. The goal was to redesign, refine, and simplify the site’s content and user flow so that users could connect and engage with the hospital. The site allows visitors to access the information that they need and eliminate excess information. Content pages have a singular and clear “call to action.” More people go online to learn about their health than to shop or read the news. We utilized the rich content Backus had to build a hub for health information and resources in Connecticut.
Encircle Healthcare is a technology solutions company specifically geared towards providing healthcare partners with the most efficient solutions to optimize communications and strategy. Encircle had a site that was out of date and did not reflect their position as a leading technology provider. They were looking for a new site that would reflect their commitment to the most innovative medical technologies and also highlight their list of 300+ partners. Using a responsive, Julia Balfour Signature WordPress website and a fresh logo system, we were able to give them that and so much more. We also designed for Encircle a custom, informative exhibit display to engage potential partners.
HAMBURG COVE ENDODONTICS
Hamburg Cove Endodontics needed to establish a brand for the new office location in Lyme, Connecticut. The location directly on Hamburg Cove, a well-known and picturesque waterfront location on the CT shoreline, along with the OUTSTANDING office space set this practice apart from the rest. They can offer a truly luxurious experience, previously unheard of in root canals. Dr. Safaian needed a professional, clean, and easy to navigate website for her patients to experience the quality of her work at a glance. We accomplished that goal with a Julia Balfour Signature WordPress website that showcases the beautiful space on Hamburg Road and entices patients to come from near and far.
COMPREHENSIVE RESEARCH CENTER
Comprehensive Research Center is dedicated to performing clinical research trials that help improve the medical industry by providing community feedback, information and developments. CRC was an emerging branch of Comprehensive Psychiatric Care that required its own site to showcase the important work being done in medical research and clinical trials. Julia Balfour created for them a Signature WordPress website that focused on providing the maximum amount of information in an organized, uncluttered, and easy-to-navigate layout and design. Participants, doctors, researchers, and community members will find everything they need here.
The-e-list’s new website is ready for beta! We’ve put countless hours into this website, and we think it is absolutely beautiful – so we are sending our baby out into the world! Since 2008, the-e-list has been the go-to resource for info on the best of the best of the CT shoreline, and we are ECSTATIC to be a part of bringing Erica’s vision to the web. We hope this website will help locals and visitors alike eat, shop, and live well.
The Hadlyme Country Market is all about encouraging old fashioned hospitality – they love to say that it is always in fashion, and we agree :-) BUT there is noting old fashioned about their BRAND NEW microsite! This site captures the beautiful look and feel of the newly renovated store and it’s hidden treasures. It also features a What’s New blog section, scrolling gallery, interactive Google map, and all the information you need to know about Hadlyme’s greatest kept secret, which we hope won’t be secret any longer. See it here: http://hadlymecountrymarket.com/
BOLD PR is a premiere public relations agency located in New York City that represents the “best and the boldest” in the beauty industry. We are so excited to design a striking microsite for Jodi Balkan, President, and her team. Some features of the site include a live twitter feed, interactive Google map, and an easter egg photo of the darling Roxy the dog. Check it out at http://boldpr.com/.
These beauties arrived late last Friday, and the entire office agreed that this is almost better than Christmas! We love making stunning things for our clients, and we wanted IN on the excitement of receiving new marketing materials, too. These extra-thick letterpress cards are edge painted in our favorite color, Julia Balfour blue, and are sure to stand out from the crowd. We like our new cards so much, we don’t want to give them away………… just kidding! We’ll give them to everyone we see.
Our latest web creation is the Sensible Organics website, which you can see at: sensibleorganics.us. Part of the Nourish Organics brand, every product in this white label line bares the USDA seal, which is the gold standard in natural and organic beauty. This website evokes a natural/organic/oh-so-good for you feeling to match the wonderful work that they do.
Check this out! We’ve been working on a kiosk for the boutique at Backus Hospital that will be a resource for those diagnosed with cancer, and we are so excited to show you these first images of the painted kiosk! Stay tuned for the next step, which will be implementing the interface!
